CFP on immigration and education (AHA)

Sent by H-NET List on Ethnic History

We are looking for a third person to round out our panel for  the American Historical Association convention January  5-8 2012 in Chicago.

Our papers deal broadly with immigration and education in late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century America. We are less concerned with how immigrants became American and are instead interested in how immigrants participated as public citizens by using ethnic organizations and networks to organize,
lobby, and exercise power.

If you have a paper that you think would fit our panel, please send a short bio and a one-page abstract of your paper to Mimi Cowan at cowanmimi@gmail.com. We are happy to expand our time period and/or geographical scope to fit the right paper but submissions should deal with both immigration (or migration) and education.
