Working group of Canada-based researchers on age and generation in migration contexts

All Canada-based researchers working across the age spectrum and/or on generational relations in migration contexts are warmly invited to join a working group sponsored by the Refugee Research Network (RRN). This working group is intended to complement international initiatives, as well as related Canadian fora, such as the Metropolis priority on Family, Children and Youth. The proposed initiative will involve the following activities:
a) creation and maintenance of a contact database of Canada-based researchers working on age and generation in migration contexts;
b) creation and moderation of an on-line discussion forum through the RRN website, with links to other relevant websites and networks;
 c) organization of research meetings to facilitate information exchange and collaborative research
d) organization of a seminar/roundtable in spring 2011 on a relevant theme and dissemination of presentations through a working paper series, special journal issue and/or edited volume.
Our first meeting will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 5th, 2010 at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, just prior to the third annual Canadian Association for Refugee and Forced Migration Studies (CARFMS) conference. The exact time, venue and agenda will be communicated by the end of April to all those who have confirmed their participation. The purpose of the meeting is to sort out logistical issues relating to communication and meetings, as well as to identify substantive themes to prioritize for the 2010-2011 academic year. Please direct all comments, queries and expressions of interest to the working group coordinator, Christina Clark-Kazak at: cclark-kazak@glendon.yorku.ca.
