APSA's Seventh International Conference:
"Trans-Atlantic Exchanges"
October 7-9, 2010 - Brown University
The Seventh International Conference of the AMERICAN PORTUGUESE STUDIES ASSOCIATION (APSA) will take place at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, October 7-9, 2010. Prospective participants are encouraged to submit proposals for individual papers or complete panels of 3-4 papers in any area of Luso-African, Brazilian and Portuguese Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics. Panels based on the theme of the conference, "Trans-Atlantic Exchanges,” are particularly welcome. Inter-disciplinary and comparative approaches are also encouraged. Potential participants are also welcome to contribute papers or panels on the following topics:
* Global diversity of the Portuguese-Speaking world
* Portuguese and Lusophone African Cinema
* Internationalization of literatures in the Portuguese language
* The centenary of the Portuguese Republic
* Race relations
* Intellectual history
* Patrícia Galvão (Pagu: 1910-1962) and the proletarian novel
Participants should send abstracts of approximately 150 words to the Chairs of the Program Committee:

All proposals are due by April 1, 2010. Papers can be presented in either Portuguese or English.
